About Us
Rising Sun Animal Hospital began as a dream back in 2021. Dr. Metos found the perfect place in Nampa in 2023 and began making her dream come true. This locally owned animal hospital was built in 2024 to provide clients with the highest level of veterinary services and personalized care for their small animals and exotic pets. We are committed to providing our patients with the most up to date veterinary care – both medically and surgically – and making it affordable. We specialize in integrating Western and Eastern Medicine for our patient’s treatments, no matter the species.
To succeed with our vision, Rising Sun Animal Hospital has hired compassionate and talented staff. We want to educate our clients about alternative therapies and preventative care. We feel that communication is an integral part in successful veterinary treatments. We provide emergency surgeries at prices clients can afford. We practice fear-free techniques at the hospital to help improve pet visits and provide a stress-free environment.
Our Doctors
Dr. Merik Metos
Dr. Merik Metos is an Idaho native, she graduated from Garden Valley High School in 2006. In 2013, she graduated from Washington State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced at the largest animal sanctuary in the United States, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, for her first few years out of school, working on wildlife, rabbits, dogs, cats, pigs, and horses. There she learned pretty much how to spay and neuter every species. After marrying her husband Steve, Dr. Metos moved to Nampa, Idaho in 2015 with their combined dog family of five.
Dr. Metos has 11 years of experience in emergency medicine, soft tissue surgeries, orthopedics, surgery and exotic medicine. Wanting to learn more treatment options for her animal patients, Dr. Metos attended the Chi University of Florida and obtained additional certifications in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tui-Na. She is also is a fear-free certified veterinarian and the only veterinarian in Idaho for apiary (honeybee) medicine through the state’s Entomology Department.
In her free time, Dr. Metos enjoys playing with her dogs, going to concerts with her husband, painting/drawing, golfing, drag-racing and autocross driving her 1993 Corvette, and playing competitively in Pokémon trading card games.
