Alternative Medicine
Alternative therapies offered at Rising Sun Animal Hospital include (but are not limited to): Chinese Herbal medicine, food and nutritional therapy, Tui-na, therapeutic laser, homeopathic medicine, and acupuncture.
Exotic Wellness Examinations & Emergency Care
Our skilled staff is well trained in the care and husbandry of reptiles, small mammals, amphibians, and arachnids. We can give you the information you need to ensure the health and well-being of your exotic pet. We see the following exotic pets: Ferrets, Rabbits, Rodents, Hedgehogs, Non-venomous Snakes, Lizards, Tarantulas, Turtles, Tortoises, Emus, Chickens, Ducks, Squirrels, and Skunks. We also work with local wildlife rescues and rehabbers.
Soft Tissue & Oral Surgeries
Our veterinary team is highly skilled and experienced in performing a wide variety of pet surgeries from routine surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering, to more complex or emergency surgeries including oral surgery for broken or infected teeth.
Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment & Treatment
We can offer expert advice to help keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy! Dental health shouldn’t be taken for granted. Fortunately, many dental problems can be managed through at-home care and by bringing your pet to us for regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings. We want your pet to live a long, healthy life, and maintaining a healthy mouth is part of that.
Wellness Care
Your pet’s visit will include a full “nose-to-tail” physical examination. Our doctors and other staff members will discuss vaccines, diagnostics such as bloodwork or x-rays, nutrition, and parasite prevention with you during a wellness examination. We customize our wellness care to the needs of your pet and your family.
Urgent and Emergency Care
As pet parents, we dread the thought of our pets becoming sick enough to require emergency or urgent care. If an emergency does happen, our staff is trained and equipped to handle emergencies such as: GDV, splenectomies, lacerations, seizures, intestinal foreign bodies, urethral obstructions, toxin ingestion, animal attacks, severe vomiting and diarrhea, and limping.
Senior Wellness Care
You are an important ally in your senior pet’s health care, no matter what species they are. We are here to help ensure that your pet is safe and happy throughout their “golden years.” We offer many treatments for arthritis including: joint injections, cold laser therapeutic therapy, pain medications, acupuncture, Chinese Herbals, and Tui-na.
Cancer Treatment
Our staff are empathetic, compassionate, and trained to focus on both the emotional and medical aspects of pet cancer. We are here to guide you both through the diagnosis and treatment process. We offer alternative therapies to be used solely or to be paired with chemotherapy to help fight cancer.
End of Life Services
Our staff of compassionate, caring professionals can help you through this painful experience. We offer euthanasia services and will work with you to ensure your pet’s comfort and dignity during their final moments. We are here to honor your special requests and offer cremation services.
