Dr. Metos used her skill in acupuncture to help our 12 year old border collie, Dixie, deal with progressive degenerative myelopathy (like ALS in humans) that slowly took away the strength in her rear legs. After explaining the diagnosis, Dr. Metos suggested that acupuncture could help prolong Dixie’s independence. She was right. Dixie received treatments frequently and showed visible improvement after most of her sessions. There was no cure for our old friend, but Dr. Metos’ skill and compassion helped make Dixie’s final months as good as they could be.
We have been so blessed that we crossed paths with our Veterinarian Merik Metos. We were originally with a mainstream Veterinary clinic when we were introduced to Merik. Our pup Sammy has a liver problem and couldn’t tolerate the regular meds for Cushing’s disease and Merik who practices Chinese and Alternative medicine has helped our dog’s health and quality of life improve considerably. Merik has always given us time when we called her with any concerns. She has a way of calming an anxious pet and also explains any treatment that she feels is appropriate for your fur baby. Can’t say enough about this young lady who has totally dedicated her life to the health and wellbeing of animals in her care.
I have been consulting with Dr Metos concerning my cats since April of 2022. At the time I had two 15-year-old brothers. Katzy was being treated for hyperthyroid and inflammatory bowel. His thyroid was controlled but I was having a difficult time with his GI symptoms. I consulted with Dr. Metos and we started him on Herbal treatment and acupuncture. His condition improved, appetite and quality of life. Katzy enjoyed 18 months of life with the help of Dr Metos until we had to say goodbye in December of 2023. James, Katzy’s brother, has advanced arthritis and end stage renal failure. Dr. Metos has guided me through massage and physical therapy for James to help his mobility. He is jumping on the couch again and still enjoying life at 17 years old with the help of Dr. Metos. I would recommend Dr Metos to care for your pets through all stages of their lives.
My review will not justify how amazing Dr. Merik Metos at rising sun animal hospital is. She’s a brilliant diversified & extremely knowledgeable Doctor in both Western and Eastern medicine. She has compassionately cared for all of our fur family’s needs. Both exotic and non exotic. Everything from the sniffles to complex surgeries & acupuncture. When other vets told us to “put them down”, Doctor Metos took on the hard cases, never flinching only to give us many more quality years with our furry kids. Her compassion goes well beyond the animals she treats. Her empathetic compassion spills over to her pet parents. So much so that we have followed her to her new location & frankly would follow her anywhere she practices. If you’re looking for superb care for your Fur family, Doctor Metos is the best in Idaho. We’ve lived here most of our lives & have run the Gambit. 10 out of 5 stars for outstanding excellence.
Brian was the love of my life and his life was extended by the outstanding and remarkable care of Dr. Metos. Her over the top care and concern for my baby and the use of her nontraditional Chinese herbal medicines, literally prolonged his life by a year. During that year, his quality of life was amazing! No one would ever have known he was sick with cancer. He had abundant energy! I had previously been told by another emergency veterinary clinic due to his cancer he could not live without chemotherapy for more than a month. I put my trust in doctor Merik Metos and I can’t put into words what a wonderful year extension meant to me and my boy Brian. Dr. Metos has saved my goofy dog’s life not just once but twice. Both times, he needed emergency foreign body surgery, Dr. Metos was my first phone call for help. She is a kind, brilliant human who pours herself into each of her patient’s care. I have watched her save lives and improve the quality of each of her patients.
